Policies + Priority

Interment rights and memorial wall spaces in the Lone Tree Cemetery are solely at the discretion of the Board of Directors. As space is limited, priority for interment rights and memorial wall spaces will be given to full time residents of the cemetery district and those within San Miguel County, for whom their property is their primary residence, as evidenced by voter registration. Property owners within the cemetery taxing district or San Miguel County, for whom their property is not their primary residence as evidenced by voter registration, as well as former Telluride area full time residents will be awarded plots or memorial wall spaces at the discretion of the Board of Directors, on a space available basis only.

MEMORIAL WALLs

According to the National Funeral Directors Association, Americans are increasingly choosing cremation over burial, a trend driven by lower costs, fading religious taboos and environmental considerations. Today, almost 75% of Coloradans choose cremation, with many wishing to have their ashes scattered in the majestic Colorado mountains.  In partnership with Morris Monument the Lone Tree Cemetery District now offers the option of a wonderful, more affordable way to remember a loved one whose remains or cremains are not buried within the Cemetery.

Choose from one of four beautiful bronze plaque designs in varying sizes and price ranges, customized by you.  Your bronze memorial plaque will be permanently  mounted on The Aplin Memorial Wall, graciously built and donated to the Lone Tree Cemetery by Simon Aplin of Aplin Masonry.

These plots bear an additional $3,000 fee in addition to the applicable plot assignment cost per the pricing category applicable.
